Confidentiality issues

It would be usual for Dr Needham-Bennett to send a summary of the interview and assessment, together with diagnosis and treatment proposals, to your doctor. If you have any concerns about your privacy, please discuss this with Dr Needham-Bennett.

Your meeting with Dr Needham-Bennett is confidential but there are some limitations to this confidentiality of which you should be aware. Sometimes, doctors are legally obliged to divulge information about their patients when a court order or statutory law requires such disclosure; one example of this is where children may be at risk, in which case the doctor has a duty to disclose information to relevant authorities. Similarly, and in rare situations, doctors may disclose information to others to manage the risk of serious harm to another person.
